Legal paranoia aside, we are happy to announce two important updates!
First, we have another flagship recipe currently in development: Business Casual, our red ale.
This is going to be our session beer, coming in at around 4.3%. Although we love the style, our main problem with a lot of lower-alcohol red ales is that they’re usually somewhat lacking in flavor. Given that our favorite red ales are mostly imperial reds/ambers (Great Lakes Nosferatu, Oskar Blues G’Knight, and Tröegs Nugget Nectar, to name a few exceptional examples) and are thus intensely flavorful, we decided to take some of the commonalities between a lot of imperial red recipes and use them as a starting point. We brewed our first test batch last Sunday, so we will be able to see how it is on Friday.
Second, we will be attending a press conference next Tuesday in which the overall plan for the 800 Braddock Avenue facility will be made public. We’ve had to keep our mouths shut about it for a while, so for now let’s just say it’s going to be big news and we’re really excited to be a part of it.
Until then, we’re working on a lot of the logistical / legal / equipment side of things and meeting with the building renovation team about designs and timetables. We will also be attending the Beer & Gear Fest this weekend at Ohiopyle State Park, so we hope to see some of you there!
